      Developed and implemented multi-media syllabi focused on

      Bio-psycho-social model of medical/psychiatric social work.  Knowledge

      of medical terminology, and practice skills were developed to interface

      in classroom role plays. presentations, and interviews.  Clinical

      interventions developed patient Psycho education, crisis intervention,

      and group therapy for inpatient and ambulatory settings. Cultural

      aspects of the disease process highlighted. Psychosocial assessment,

      community resources, and discharge planning exercises were developed to

      imprint the importance of successful rehabilitation of clients. Stress

      management for healthcare workers and patients.  HMO, Quality Control

      and Managed Care and the role of the medical social worker. Class

      enrollees included students of nursing, physical therapy, and social

      workers

      Research Methodology (undergraduate and graduate levels)

      Developed and implemented syllabi focused on increasing student

      research interests and performance. Examination of cognitive

      distortions regarding research courses, paper writing and student's

      unsuccessful beliefs concerning library searches and statistics.

      Promoted conceptualization of abstract theories.

      Assignments designed to target problem areas and structure the steps of

      the research process.  Cost-benefit analysis of social services and

      program implementation

      Evaluative research and single-subject designs integrated with student

      internship experience to maximize understanding and implementation in

      field practicums.

      Social Work Practice (undergraduate)

      Developed and implemented a multi- media syllabus to provide the

      beginning student with an overview of the social work profession.  

      Focus on a comprehensive presentation of the evolution of social work

      models and practice to familiarize the student with the underpinnings

      of the social work knowledge base.  Emphasis on developing practice

      skills, group therapy, ethical issues, social work values and the NASW

      Code of Ethics interfaced with the classroom exercises to aid in the

      student's development of sound social work practice skills.
